Amazon has always been one of the most disruptive business in the world and it doesn’t seem like they intend to slow down. Their most recent move is to take on the role of digital freight broker.
Albeit in a beta test phase, the service is already available in some regions in the US. The service offers full-truckload services, and allows shippers to set up online accounts and view rates based on destinations.
Some rumors are making the rounds that Amazon aims to undercut the mainstream freight companies, however it seems that instead, they aim to be ‘best-in-class’ rather than cheap. Whatever the angle Amazon takes, the impact of its’ ambitions will be felt one way or the other. Watch this space.
